Whether you’re making your own containers for marijuana or purchasing one, it’s important to keep several things in mind to ensure your cannabis stays fresh. When it comes to wooden containers, we recommend using mahogany because it’s a neutral wood that does not impart any oils or scents that could influence the taste and flavor of your marijuana. We use Luan mahogany on the interior of every Cannador because it’s great with moisture and won’t warp or bend over time like softer woods and it’s also very abundant and grows quickly.
We make a variety of containers for marijuana that utilize glass or metal and our new Cannaster is made of aluminum. Some prefer their bud in glass containers versus metal, so it really comes down to personal preference. We have designed glass nug jars that fit inside the Cannador for existing and future models. They have breathable lids that allow moisture flow to bathe the buds and keep the trichomes sticky.
Containers for cannabis come in many different shapes and sizes so it’s best to find a container that meets your needs in terms of consumption. Many people like to keep up to an ounce on hand with 2-3 different types of strains. Therefore, strain separation is important to keep the terpenes from commingling. We talk about this in greater detail on a previous post here.
Whatever type of container you choose, make sure it is airtight, allows for moisture control, separates different strains, blocks UV-B light or stays in a dark and cool environment.
